You Are Invited to Become a Founding Member of the UUFSMA Endowment Fund Legacy circle
The UUFSMA Endowment Fund is our savings account for the future. It will provide for long-term financial security, allowing our community and mission to grow and prosper. Just as families save so that they can enrich their lives, achieve their goals, and cover unforeseen emergencies, so should our Fellowship. The Endowment is a targeted fund, completely separate from the annual operating budget of the Fellowship.
Endowment Fund Management Our Endowment Fund is managed by the UUFSMA Endowment Committee comprised of six Fellowship members, each elected by the congregation for three-year terms. Funds are invested primarily with the UUA Common Endowment Fund, a professionally managed, diversified fund that supports UU values through socially responsible investing. The Committee functions according to the Fellowship’s bylaws and articles of incorporation. Unrestricted donations are encouraged. Proceeds from unrestricted donations are distributed by the Endowment Committee. Once the Unrestricted Fund reaches $500,000, the Endowment Committee annually will disperse a portion of Fund revenues (interest earned on the principal), subject to Fellowship approval, through a series of grants. Restricted donations may also be gratefully accepted as approved by the Board of Directors. Restricted funds are those donated for specific, agreed upon purposes and are distributed by the Board of Directors.
Endowment Fund Uses The Endowment Fund will be used to enrich our lives, the lives of the larger community and support UU principles and are beyond the scope of the annual operating budget. Funds will be distributed to:
Enhance and expand social action grants to community organizations
Support projects that are not part of the Fellowship operating budget
Finance future capital expenditures which may arise, and
Fund other commitments that enhance the mission of the Fellowship.
Giving: Creating a Legacy Consider making a donation to UUCWC’s Endowment Fund as a means of establishing your personal legacy and at the same time contributing to the overall strength and long-term mission of our community. A gift may also be given in memory or honor of a loved one or to commemorate a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary. Your tax-deductible donation may be made payable to UUFSMA with “Endowment” on the memo line. Donations in any amount may be made at any time, either as an immediate gift or as a deferred charitable donation made through your will. Donations are typically in the form of cash, stocks or bonds. UUFSMA may be named as a beneficiary of an insurance policy, retirement account, annuity or other similar instrument. With the Endowment Committee’s recommendation and Board approval, real estate or other types of assets may be donated.
