ABBA House in San Miguel de Allende (Albergue ABBA) is a humanitarian shelter that offers food, safe refuge, medical care, and emotional support to migrants and families in transit, helping them heal from hardship with dignity as they continue their journeys or seek asylum. Its compassionate community of staff and volunteers has touched tens of thousands of lives by restoring hope, building resilience, and affirming the worth of every person who arrives at its doors. |

Caminos de Agua is a community-driven nonprofit that collaborates with local residents to monitor water quality and implement clean water solutions—like rainwater harvesting and community treatment systems—to bring safe, affordable drinking water to rural areas around San Miguel de Allende. Their work has empowered communities to protect health and well-being by reducing toxic contaminants and increasing access to life-sustaining water, providing access to clean water for more than 50,000 people in more than 120 rural communities across the Upper Río Laja watershed. |

Casita Linda is a long-standing nonprofit in San Miguel de Allende that builds safe, dignified homes for families living in extreme poverty, helping them transition out of unsafe, makeshift shelters into sturdy houses with basic amenities and stability. They have built 167 homes so far, and they’re building more!
By empowering families through a collaborative building process and ongoing community workshops, Casita Linda fosters hope, security, and stronger futures for parents and children alike. |

Centro de Desarrollo Agropecuario (CEDESA) in San Miguel de Allende is a grassroots nonprofit that empowers rural families by providing training in sustainable agriculture, community organization, natural resource stewardship, and food production to strengthen local autonomy and well-being. Its impact includes improved community health, environmental resilience, and self-sufficiency through projects like rainwater harvesting, organic farming, and cooperative production, helping campesinos lead thriving, self-determined lives. |

Centro Infantil de los Ángeles (CILA) in San Miguel de Allende provides free, nurturing daycare and high-quality early childhood education to children from low-income families; CILA also provides nutritious daily meals, basic medical and dental checkups, enrichment activities like art and English, and parent education programs. CILA’s impact is broad — from improving early learning outcomes and supporting family economic participation, to enhancing social inclusion and health for vulnerable children and parents in San Miguel de Allende.

Escuela de Educación Especial in San Miguel de Allende provides high-quality, bilingual education in Mexican Sign Language and written Spanish to deaf and hard-of-hearing students from early childhood through vocational training, empowering them to become literate, independent, and productive citizens. Through personalized support and inclusive learning, the school transforms lives by expanding opportunities for communication, self-determination, and meaningful community participation.

Jóvenes Adelante A.C. empowers economically disadvantaged youth from San Miguel de Allende and neighboring communities by providing comprehensive university scholarships, mentorship, life-skills workshops, English tutoring, and personal support to help students succeed academically and professionally. Through its holistic support network and high graduation success rate, the organization transforms individual lives and uplifts families and communities by expanding access to higher education and future opportunities. |

Libros para Todos in San Miguel de Allende sparks a lifelong love of reading by bringing books, author visits, pop-up libraries, and teacher workshops to children—especially those from low-income and rural communities where access to books is limited. Since 2013, this grassroots nonprofit has inspired curiosity, strengthened literacy, and empowered over 9,000 young readers in Guanajuato through engaging literary programming and year-round creative opportunities. |

Mujeres en Cambio is a volunteer-driven nonprofit empowering girls and young women in the rural communities around San Miguel de Allende by providing scholarships that make continued education from junior high through university possible. By helping students stay in school and envision brighter futures, the organization fosters confidence, breaks cycles of poverty, and inspires positive change for families and communities. |

Their community-centered work has grown from serving a handful of families to supporting dozens of children—with many receiving free or low-cost therapy—bringing hope, confidence, and greater inclusion to local families. |
Patronato Pro Niños is a long-standing nonprofit in San Miguel de Allende that delivers critical medical, dental, psychological, and social services to economically disadvantaged children and adolescents, including through mobile units reaching 500+ rural communities. By providing thousands of consultations and treatments each year, the organization helps improve children’s health, wellbeing, and opportunities to thrive — creating healthier, stronger communities.
